I originally planned on this to be a live blog of my transition and an exploration of my thoughts about masculinity and feminism. It is occasionally still that, but profanity-laced feminist book reviews have taken over.

I’m an academic in training and a teacher and author in trade. I have a special interest in speculative fiction, particularly urban fantasy, which is my chosen genre. I published an urban fantasy novel called The Wicked Instead, which is available from Hard Limits Press, and am at work on its sequel, plus a separate project. I’m a little obsessed with the universal themes of world mythology, and I’m currently researching the Coast Salish peoples of the Pacific Northwest. I identify as a queer transgender person of color (male pronouns please). I write what I want to see more of in speculative fiction.

I’m not all academic seriousness, though. I’m also a proliferation of internet memes, GIFs, video games, and Pacific Northwest stereotypes.

Please comment, even if you disagree. I love to engage in dialogue about these issues and ideas.
